Paying it forward.  Many of us want to make the world a better place, in a broader sense than in the paid work we do. 

Some volunteer their time and impressively, I have known several colleagues set up their own charities.

Most donate to pre-existing charities, although to choose which charities to support can be overwhelming.  

Doctors and other high income earners have great privilege, responsibility and power to make an impact on the world.   As groups, doctors in Australia have demonstrated they can change the way we treat immigrants and prompt government to act to protect their own people.
